Head of Commercial – Hazardous Waste
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 ( + car allowance + commission structure)
Location: Remote/Hybrid (North West and West Midlands Site presence required)

A specialist hazardous waste organisation is seeking a Head of Commercial to lead and develop its Commercial function. This role is responsible for overseeing the preparation of quotations, assessing disposal routes and associated costs, and working closely with Sales and Operations teams to deliver competitive, compliant, and timely pricing solutions.
You will manage a small, experienced team and play a key role in driving commercial performance, customer responsiveness, and operational alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading the Commercial team in the preparation of accurate and compliant quotations for a wide range of hazardous waste streams.
Strong Understanding of Hazardous Waste with an understanding of the Chemistry involved in Treatment and Disposal options and the commercial aspect of finding the most competitive and compliant routes.
Assessing disposal routes, treatment options, and associated costs prior to issuing quotations.
Managing response times to ensure service level targets are achieved, including maintaining a same-day quotation rate.
Developing strong working relationships with Sales teams to support competitive pricing and customer retention.
Liaising with third-party disposal outlets to obtain rates and confirm routing where required.
Maintaining and updating databases of waste stream costs, routes, and pricing structures.
Producing weekly reporting on quotation volumes, turnaround times, and performance metrics.
Maintaining pricing and routing information for key and repeat customers.
What You’ll Need:
HND (or higher) in Chemistry or a related discipline.
Extensive experience within the hazardous waste sector, with strong commercial exposure.
Detailed knowledge of waste legislation, regulatory requirements, and disposal routes.
Strong leadership and communication skills with experience supporting and guiding teams.
Commercial awareness with the ability to balance competitiveness and regulatory responsibility.
