The position of EPAGU Clinical Specialist Nurse has become available and might be exactly for you. We are seeking a passionate, committed, and highly motivated nurse with previous experience in gynaecology to provide direct care and support to women experiencing gynaecological and early pregnancy problems, individually as well as part of an amazing team.
The Unit can be a busy and pressured area, combining a clinic with an emergency type environment, but working here is hugely rewarding.
This will be a full time post which will allow you to mix clinical nursing with telephone triage, and help you broaden your understanding in running a busy service, supporting junior staff and students, offering you the opportunity to develop your managerial skills within a friendly and caring environment, under the Trust's Values and Beliefs framework.

Main duties of the job
The post holder acts as a link nurse in the area of early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology care, and will act as a resource for this across the service. The role will have responsibility for co-ordinating and developing the Early Pregnancy and Acute Gynaecology Unit with a focus on role development to specialist practitioner level. The post is therefore one of continuing development.
Working closely with the lead consultant and the unit manager, the post holder will ensure the delivery of evidence-based care throughout the unit. With an innovative approach to nursing the post holder will lead in developing and implementing service development projects. The role shares the responsibility to facilitate an effective communication link across directorates and within the women’s directorate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Demonstrate clinical excellence in gynaecological nursing with particular expertise in early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology.
Develop skills in history taking, counselling, patient assessment, pre- assessment, taking cervical swabs and nurse patient-management.
Support the woman and her carers through her pathway of care, minor procedure management, pre-clerking and through the gynaecological episode of emergency inpatient and/or day surgery care.

Professional/Statutory Registration
Essential criteria
1. RN1/ RN2/ RN12 on the NMC register.
2. Diploma or Degree in Nursing
Desirable criteria
3. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
4. Has achieved the minimum of a Diploma in nursing / health studies
5. Has achieved gynaecology nursing course qualifications or be working towards
6. Can demonstrate a commitment and willingness to undertake further study at degree level.

Previous experience
Essential criteria
10. Experience in gynaecology or related women’s health area.
11. Clinical expertise in early pregnancy, acute gynaecology or an emergency setting
12. Can demonstrate experience of supervision of learner and trained staff.
13. Can demonstrate proficiency in phlebotomy and cannulation.
Desirable criteria
14. Can demonstrate experience of bereavement care
15. Experience in taking a full gynaecology patient history
16. Is able to demonstrate clinical supervision experience
17. Has previous experience of nurse led services.
