Role Purpose:
This role is extremely rewarding in making a difference to people’s lives. The role of the Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner is to support the delivery of evidence-based, equitable stop smoking services to help reduce the inequalities throughout the contracted localities. This will include the delivery of services within areas of most deprivation. It is essential that the postholder can work flexibly, independently and as part of a team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a motivated, passionate, organised, and proactive individual with experience in smoking cessation, addiction support, or behavioural change services to deliver high‑quality stop smoking interventions across a range of community settings. The successful candidate will motivate and empower clients to make positive lifestyle changes, provide clear information about nicotine addiction and stop smoking services, and deliver evidence-based support in line with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme through one-to-one sessions, group support, drop‑ins, telephone, and online interventions. The role involves working collaboratively with healthcare professionals and community partners to embed smoking cessation into routine care, supporting referral generation through GP surgeries, workplaces, and community events, and leading peer support sessions to help prevent relapse. You will provide ongoing motivational support and behavioural change education, helping individuals to set realistic and sustainable goals while contributing to reducing health inequalities within local communities. Responsibilities also include analysing health and service data to identify local need, maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records in line with ABL Health policies, and effectively managing competing priorities within a demanding and evolving service environment.
* Be an experienced Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner within the community (training will be given).
* Experience of working with evolving and developing services.
* Positive and proactive outlook with the ability to motivate, engage and support others to achieve the highest standards and outcomes.
* Adept in communication; a strong communicator who adapts the message to fit the needs of the audience including clients, staff, and volunteers at all levels.
