A client within the Public Sector based in Nottinghamshire is currently recruiting for a Head of Fire Safety & Asbestos to join their Compliance & Technical Services Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in a residential or property compliance environment.
The Role
The key purpose of this role is to ensure that the organisation meets its legal obligations regarding fire safety and asbestos management, keeping residents safe, leading teams, setting policy, monitoring budgets, and overseeing programmes and contractors.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Lead the Fire Safety & Asbestos team to ensure compliance with regulatory, industry, and client requirements.
• Represent the organisation with regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders.
• Act as the ‘responsible person’ for effective management of fire and asbestos risk in residential properties.
• Develop, implement, and regularly review compliance policies and procedures.
• Oversee budgets, procurement, and contract management for fire safety and asbestos services.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
• Extensive experience in fire safety and/or asbestos management within the residential or public sector.
• Proven senior management experience, including leading teams and managing significant budgets.
• Recognised professional qualifications in fire safety or relevant health and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, Fire Protection Association, Fire Industry Association).
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience with public sector procurement and contract management (e.g., JCT/NEC/TPC contracts).
• Strong stakeholder management experience, including senior leadership and board-level reporting.
• Proven ability to implement legislative and procedural changes effectively.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £600 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £500 per day PAYE).
