Role: Technical Sales Engineer Location: Otley Salary: £35,000-£37,000 pa - depending on experience Hours: Monday - Friday, 8.30am- 5.00pm The Role: Our client a leading technical distributor based on the outskirts of Otley, are looking to recruit a motivated Technical Sales Engineer who has a passion for customer interaction. You'll be the first point of contact for potential clients, providing exceptional product expertise, whilst identifying additional opportunities. You will have a clear understanding of PLCs, LV Control Gear, or VSDs - through installation, commissioning, design, configuration, or technical sales. By understanding customer needs and collaborating with your team, you'll help match clients with the right product solutions. Your responsibilities will include managing customer enquiries, preparing competitive technical quotes and processing orders efficiently. Key Responsibilities of the Technical Sales Engineer: Proactively engage with clients to understand technical and commercial requirements, whilst providing exceptional service, ensuring their needs are met quickly and professionally. Accurately prepare technical quotations and proposals, process sales orders and maintain accurate customer records. Identify additional sales opportunities. Develop lasting relationships with both new and existing customers, acting as their go to contact for support and advice. Constantly self educated with new company products. Collaborate closely with external sales and technical teams to maximise opportunities. Skills & Experience required: Previous sales and customer service experience, ideally within a technical, engineering or industrial environment. Hands-on experience with PLCs, LV Control Gear, or VSDs Strong ability to combine technical understanding with commercial insight. Technical or engineering qualifications an advantage (apprenticeship, diploma, degree, or equivalent). Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive, customer focused attitude.
