NFP Finance Lead at Trace - Recruiting Senior/Qualified candidates in the third sector
Director of Finance, £70,000-75,000, South London and Hybrid
Trace are working exclusively with Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts to find a new Director of Finance to lead the team. Sitting as part of the senior leadership, you will lead a small finance function on all aspects of finance and supporting commercial activity. The role is suited to candidates coming from a higher education background, ideally an SME, and are happy to be in a hands on and varied position that covers commercial finance along with technical.
Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, based in Peckham, London, is a leading UK drama school offering vocational training in acting, musical theatre, and production arts. Founded in 1945, it moved to a state-of-the-art campus in 2018 with modern performance and rehearsal facilities. Your Role
* Be the senior financial controller and primary contact for auditors, statutory bodies and validating bodies with regards to finance.
* Lead the development and implementation of financial strategy, and the management of financial operations.
* Lead the development, management, planning and delivery of the finance function and all requirements for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, financial risk management and compliance.
* Work with the Executive and Board of Trustees to develop a sustainable financial plan
* Ensure that budget and management accounts models are fit-for-purpose, liaising with the Executive and Finance & Resources Committee as appropriate.
* Lead the annual budgeting process, working with budget holders to produce detailed budget analysis for the Executive team, Finance & Resources Committee and Board.
* Prepare annual accounts and oversee year-end audit process from auditors’ visit through to Board approval.
* Be responsible for the timely submission of the Annual Financial Return to the Office for Students, and any interim reporting as required by the OfS.
* Be accountable for all aspects of taxation including VAT, Theatre Tax Relief and Income Tax.
* Oversee the effective management of staff payroll and pensions, and timely payment of all PAYE contracts and contracts for services, ensuring employer statutory responsibilities are fulfilled.
* Develop viable financial models for additional services, activities and initiatives
Your Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience in higher education is required
* Comfortable leading and developing a small team
* Experience working in a senior leadership team, confident and credible in Board meetings
* Happy to be hands on in a varied finance position
