Overview

West Sussex Alternative Provision College (WSAPC) is an educational establishment based across the county on eight separate sites and two peripatetic services, providing education and intervention for pupils who are permanently excluded, at risk of exclusion or too ill to attend school. Our ethos is to provide FOCUS (Future, Opportunities, Curriculum, Us, School) for our pupils to re‑engage them in their learning and support re‑integration to mainstream provision.

Are you a talented communicator with strong organisational skills and an interest in HR? Do you enjoy creating engaging content, supporting people‑focused initiatives and ensuring smooth, professional processes? If so, we'd love you to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

* Supporting the creation and delivery of internal communications, newsletters, SharePoint updates and social media content.
* Helping celebrate staff successes and strengthening our organisational culture.
* Drafting, editing and proofreading people‑focused communications, including content for senior leaders.
* Maintaining communication channels and ensuring information is accurate, timely and approved.
* Providing HR administrative support, including handling routine enquiries and maintaining accurate records.
* Supporting recruitment processes, including advertising roles, communicating with candidates and coordinating interviews.
* Managing pre‑employment checks and supporting onboarding and induction activities.
* Working flexibly within the HR team to ensure smooth operation of people processes across all centres.

Qualifications & Skills

* Has strong writing skills and an eye for detail.
* Enjoys working with digital platforms such as Office 365, websites, and content management systems.
* Is organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities.
* Communicates clearly and professionally with a wide range of people.
* Handles sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
* Works well both independently and as part of a team.
* Shares our commitment to safeguarding, equality and positive staff experience.
* Experience in HR, communications or administration is desirable—but what matters most is a positive attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to follow consistent processes.
* A role where no two days are the same and your work has a meaningful impact on staff experience and organisational culture.
* The chance to contribute to a college committed to inclusion, wellbeing and high‑quality provision for its pupils.

WSAPC and West Sussex County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service check along with other relevant employment checks, including satisfactory references.
