The Opportunity A highly regarded national law firm is seeking a talented Senior Associate (4-8 years' PQE) to join its growing London Construction team. The team advises on some of the UK's most significant infrastructure, real estate development, energy, and regeneration projects, acting for developers, contractors, funders, investors, public sector bodies, and major corporate occupiers. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious construction lawyer looking to take on a broader client-facing role while working alongside market-leading partners on complex, high-value projects. The Role The successful candidate will focus on non-contentious construction matters, supporting clients throughout the lifecycle of development and infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities will include: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of construction documentation, including: JCT and NEC building contracts Consultant appointments Collateral warranties Parent company guarantees Performance bonds Framework agreements Development agreements Advising on procurement strategies and project delivery models. Supporting large-scale commercial, residential, mixed-use, logistics, energy, and infrastructure developments. Advising real estate, corporate, banking, and projects teams on construction-related aspects of transactions and financings. Identifying and mitigating construction risk for developers, investors, lenders, and occupiers. Assisting clients with project structuring, contract administration issues, and contractual interpretation. Working closely with clients' project teams, including surveyors, project managers, architects, and technical consultants. Supervising junior lawyers and contributing to knowledge sharing and business development initiatives. Types of Work You Can Expect Real Estate Development Advising national housebuilders and institutional developers on major residential-led schemes. Negotiating construction packages for city-centre regeneration and mixed-use developments. Supporting forward-funding and forward-purchase transactions. Infrastructure & Energy Advising on procurement and delivery arrangements for transport, utilities, and renewable energy projects. Drafting EPC, balance-of-plant, and associated project documentation for energy developments. Supporting battery storage, solar, and other energy transition projects. Investment & Finance Conducting construction due diligence for lenders and investors. Advising banks and funders on construction risk allocation within project financings. Reviewing security packages and project documentation as part of acquisition and refinancing transactions. Public Sector Projects Advising local authorities, universities, NHS bodies, and government agencies on procurement and development arrangements. Supporting regeneration and public-private partnership projects. Candidate Requirements Qualified solicitor in England & Wales. Approximately 4-8 years' PQE gained at a recognised construction practice. Strong experience advising on non-contentious construction matters. Excellent drafting and negotiation skills. Experience with JCT and NEC forms of contract. Commercially focused with strong client relationship skills. Ability to manage transactions and supervise junior team members. Why Join?
