KBS Maritime is Joint Venture (JV) that delivers Asset Management, Facilities Management and Energy Solutions across the maritime and defence environments. With parent companies KBR and BAE Systems the JV has the pedigree of two huge companies, but we have the ethos of a small business where our people are valued and empowered to succeed. It’s a great place to work and we bring opportunity to all our team.
What’s the role all about:
With a busy project delivery programme ahead of us, we have an exciting opportunity for a Waterfront Project Engineer (Through Life Support) to join our Service Delivery Team to support the successful delivery of projects and their smooth transition into service and operation / maintenance. This is a new role within KBS which will add value by ensuring new assets deliver as designed and provide maximum return on investment.
Role Responsibilities:
You will be required to:
* Liaise with our ‘Strategic Asset Managers’ to ensure you are fully conversant with the strategies that underpin the infrastructure investment programme and ensure that these are communicated to the relevant Teams within Service Delivery.
* Represent Service Delivery within the Project Design Review Process; ensuring Service Delivery representation at all relevant check point meetings and feeding in requirements and capturing information to help prepare Service Delivery for participation in successful handovers.
* Liaise with the ‘Maintenance Handover Manager’ to understand the extent of future operation and maintenance requirements with respect to new assets under delivery. Where it is desirable for any new / additional operation and maintenance requirements to be delivered utilising in-house teams, work closely with Team Leads to understand and quantify any resource implications and ensure that this is conveyed to either the ‘Alongside Services Operations Manager’ or the ‘Operations and Maintenance Manager’ as appropriate. Where operations / maintenance is to be outsourced, draft output requirements in consultation with the key stakeholders and support colleagues in our Supply Chain Team in putting contracts into place as required.
* Put in place arrangements where necessary for KBS in-house teams to receive familiarisation training in respect to new assets in advance of these being brought into service.
* Ensure that any additions or reductions in the cost of operating / maintaining new assets or through the removal of assets is captured and advised to the KBS Commercial Team to support any required contract change.
* Utilising our CAFM tool and through consultation with Team Leads and End Users, monitor the performance/ reliability of new assets through their initial period of operation / defect liability period. Ensure that any issues / defects arising during the defect’s liability period are dealt with through the provisions of the relevant contract where appropriate and ensure that all such information is shared with the Project Delivery Team to inform their ‘In-Service Review’. On-Service the relevant Project Manager is made aware of any such issues.
* At the end of the defect liability period collate all operating and maintenance costs pertaining to the project over this period and share this information with the ‘Whole Life Cost Modelling Manager’ to inform future asset investment decisions.
