An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienceddispenser to join our busy Pharmacy team.
The available post is for 18.5 hours per week, with flexibility to cover holiday and sickness at short notice.
Rate of pay will be dependent on experience.
Applicants should have experience in dispensing with aminimum of NVQ2 in dispensary / Pharmacy services.
Main duties of the job
Compliance & SOPs: Follow all Pharmacy and Dispensary Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant dispensing guidelines.
Dispensing & Accuracy: Process authorised prescriptions, dispense medicines/appliances using the dispensing robot, prepare dossette boxes, and ensure items are checked against prescriptions. Seek guidance from a pharmacist or doctor if in doubt.
Prescription Management: Endorse prescription forms, manage repeat prescriptions on the computer system, and ensure accurate record keeping. Collect prescription charges and ensure patient declarations are correctly completed.
Stock Control & Ordering: Operate efficient stock control, order drugs when required, monitor expiry dates, and ensure proper storage (including cold chain management with temperature logs).
Quality & Safety: Respond promptly to drug alerts, maintain high hygiene standards for work areas and equipment, and ensure safe handling of medicines.
Administration: Forward invoices and correspondence promptly to the Practice Manager/Pharmacist and maintain accurate transaction records.
Training & Development: Undertake training to maintain competence, with potential progression towards an Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT) qualification.
Other Duties: Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Partners or Management to support an efficient and high-quality dispensing service.

Job responsibilities
DUTIES& RESPONSIBLITIES
Follow Pharmacy and Dispensary SOPs atall times.
Process all authorised prescriptions whereappropriate in accordance with the principle of good practice as described inthe Dispensing Doctors Association Dispensing Guidelines and Pharmacy SOPs.
Ensure that all medicines andappliances dispensed (with the use of the dispensing robot) are checked againstthe prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of theitem, or about the dose or labelling instructions to check with the Pharmacistor authorising doctor (or On Call doctor).
Making up and checking of dossetteboxes.
Endorse all prescription forms asappropriate ready for the end of month process.
Promptly forward all invoices anddispensary related correspondence to the Practice Manager or Pharmacist inaccordance with practice policy.
Operate efficient stock controlappropriate to the needs of the practice with the objective of ensuringcontinuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage through out of datestock.
Order drugs from wholesalers andrepresentatives as and when required, making use of the computer orderingsystem.
Ensure that drugs are stored in anappropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions.
Ensure that all shelves and all worksurfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level of hygiene.
Ensure that all equipment is kept cleanand kept in good working order
Take prompt action in response to anydrug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time
Ensure that refrigerated items arestored at the appropriate temperature and to maintain a temperature controlrecord / log book
Maintain full and accurate records ofall transactions incorporating the use of computers as appropriate.
Undertake any necessary work as may berequired and appropriate to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensingservice.
Ensure repeat prescriptions areregularly entered on the computer system and printed out.
Collect all due prescription chargesand ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is dulyfilled in and signed by the patient. Incircumstances where the patient is physically unable to do so the dispenser mayfill in the declaration on the patients behalf but only when completelysatisfied that the declaration is correct.
Undertake training as appropriate toensure necessary skills and competence required.

Undertake any further duties that maybe required from time to time as requested by the Partners or Management team.
