Newcastle is preparing for one of the biggest sporting events in the world — EURO 2028 — and we want you to help us deliver it.
As a Host City, we’re ready to welcome thousands of fans, showcase our incredible culture and reinforce our reputation as one of the UK’s leading Event Cities. Newcastle City Council is assembling a dynamic team to make it happen, and we’re searching for an exceptional Marketing and Communications Executive to play a pivotal role. This position is fixed term until 30 September 2028.
This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to shape unforgettable experiences, transform the city during a global event, and be part of something that will leave a legacy for years to come.
As a Marketing and Communications Executive, you will play a key role in promoting the city, engaging residents and visitors, and helping deliver an unforgettable tournament experience.
If you’re creative, organised, collaborative and excited by high‑profile events, this is your chance to make your mark on one of the biggest sporting events Europe has ever seen.
What you’ll be doing
* Developing and delivering marketing and communications plans that promote EURO 2028 activity in Newcastle, including ways of engaging both Newcastle’s communities and visitors.
* Creating engaging, inclusive content for digital, social media and other channels.
* Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver joined‑up campaigns.
* Managing social media and digital promotion to maximise reach and audience engagement.
* Commissioning and managing external suppliers, designers or communications specialists.
* Managing budgets and ensuring value for money.
* Supporting stakeholder engagement and partnership activity.
* Using insight, feedback and data to evaluate impact and improve future activity.
What we’re looking for
You’ll bring experience from a marketing, communications or events promotion role and thrive in a collaborative environment. You’ll be confident juggling multiple priorities, comfortable working with partners and suppliers, and passionate about creating content that connects with people.
Most importantly, you’ll be excited by the opportunity to help deliver something special for Newcastle on an international stage.
You’ll work closely with senior colleagues, UEFA partners, city stakeholders and operational teams to deliver a welcoming, inclusive and vibrant city experience that reflects Newcastle at its best and be part of delivering a once‑in‑a‑generation global sporting event.
At Newcastle City Council, you’re not just joining a team — you’re joining a community that values ambition, innovation and a commitment to making a real difference.
