Join us in the 'Steel City', the manufacturing heartland of the UK and the birthplace of Ossila.
At Ossila Sheffield, you'll share ideas, pool resources, and gain new perspectives to better understand complex problems, find solutions, and create with likeminded innovative thinkers. The most significant scientific breakthroughs of the last century were only made possible thanks to the collaborative efforts of diverse and agile teams, and this has also been the key to our success over the last decade and a half. Having been founded by academics at the University of Sheffield, collaboration is an ingrained part of our culture.
Now based in a former steelworks in Attercliffe, our unique space is home to our main office, manufacturing floor, distribution centre, and fully equipped chemical laboratory. This is the perfect place for us to continue our rapid expansion as an international company; we are proud to represent the tradition of innovation and invention that makes Sheffield the culturally, professionally, and environmentally rich city that it is.
Apply today to join the core of everything we do.
Cleaning/General Assistant
Become a vital part of our team
Location: On-site in Sheffield, UK
Employment Type: Part time
Hours: Flexible, estimated 3-4 hours a week (within core office hours of 8-5, Mon-Fri)
Salary: £14 per hour (plus holiday pay)
Deadline: Friday, Oct 17, 2025 (with rolling interviews)
Start Date: As soon as possible
We require help with several practical tasks around site, both inside and outside, in order to maintain a good working environment for our teams to excel. General tasks for the maintenance of our outside space include sweeping, attending to flowerbeds, litter picking and general site improvement. Internally, our offices and manufacturing spaces require a systematic deep clean, as well as construction of flat-pack furniture, general sorting and tidying and watering of plants.
Candidates with practical 'DIY' skills can also assist with low level fixing and maintenance jobs such as hanging signs and wall hooks, bolting furniture together etc.
This role will suit someone who takes pride in finishing practical jobs to a high standard. Previous relevant work experience is not necessary; however, we do recognise that being able to clean well is a skill. As such, we are looking for people that can not only clean to high standards but also appreciate the value that cleanliness and order has for the wider well-being of the organisation.
As this role involves physical labour, lifting and occasionally handling tools, the successful candidate must have a careful approach to their work and a safety-first attitude. Additionally, they must be willing to approach repetitive tasks in a diligent, attentive manner, and be capable of working in a busy, professional environment.
We are looking for someone who can work effectively as part of a team; however, the successful candidate must also be willing to work under their own initiative and take responsibility to solve problems when required.
About You
* Methodical and diligent work ethic
* Good organisational skills
* Neat standards of finish on practical task
* Good manual dexterity
* Ability to clean well
