PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £26,000 - £31,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Based at the BBC headquarters in London, you will join a highly skilled team of Broadcast Engineers, providing 24/7/365 frontline support for hundreds of TV, Radio & Music recording studios, edit suites, digital production systems, and a wide range of underpinning technologies and infrastructure.
You will play a vital role in ensuring that event spaces, desktop ringmain monitoring are maintained, safe and available to productions teams creating content for TV, Radio and Online platforms. You will work with the Senior Operations Technician to support audio visual systems within W1 building within the wider studio engineering support team providing support for office viewing and listening equipment and two event spaces.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
As a Operations Technician you'll be on the frontline, responsible for delivering high-quality support response, in line with agreed operational procedures, to ensure that equipment and systems are maintained to support programme makers producing world class content.
You Will Be Expected To
* Demonstrate experience in an operational, support or customer-facing technical role, preferably supporting live services.
* Demonstrate experience of overcoming challenges in operational processes, producing temporary workarounds and utilizing common fixes.
* Appreciate the pressures of broadcast requirements coupled with balance operational limitations and remain calm under those pressures.
* Reasonable knowledge of component level electronics, to understand basic electronic principals.
* Knowledge of electrical safety, in particular when it is safe to work on a particular part of a live system and to identify when cabling or equipment may be unsafe to use.
* A high degree of computer literacy, and good office software knowledge.
* Collaborate with Senior technician, stakeholders, your engineering colleagues and to understand working practices and knowledge management information

We expect the right candidate to have the following key knowledge, experience, skills, attitudes.
Essential
* Ability to overcoming challenges in operational processes, producing temporary workarounds and utilizing common fixes, as agreed within the operations team. Demonstrable experience of working under pressure and delivering to tight deadlines.
* To appreciate the pressures of broadcast requirements coupled with balancing operational limitations and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Ability to implement support structures and determine when to use escalation process in the event of tasks not being possible.
* Reasonable knowledge of component level electronics, to understand basic electronic principals. Ability to describe technical concepts to non-technical colleagues, interpret technical documentation and how components are inter-reliant and impact the system
* Knowledge of electrical safety, in particular when it is safe to work on a particular part of a live system and to identify when cabling or equipment may be unsafe to use.
* A high degree of computer literacy, and good office software knowledge. Effective administrative skills with a flexible approach to a wide range of duties, including working under desks, and to perform tasks in busy office areas
Desired
* Familiarity with BBC health and safety standards, processes and relevant regulatory requirements, keep appraised of mandatory training and any relevant training assigned by your line manager.
* Demonstrable problem solving methodologies.
* Working knowledge of audio visual technologies and how to support them
* Experience in media and creative environments.
* Awareness of Electrical Safety and ability to work with live equipment
* Experience of portable appliance testing, and ability to spot damaged cable or equipment
