Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Controls Development Engineer to be based at our customer's site in Peterborough 5 days per week.
Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.
The Role:
You will develop, model, and validate control algorithms for diesel engine platforms using MATLAB/Simulink/State flow, ensuring robust performance, emissions compliance, and seamless integration with embedded control systems. Responsibilities extend to AUTOSAR‑aligned workflows and model‑based development.
Key responsibilities:
· Develop, maintain, and debug engine control algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink/State flow.
· Execute MIL/SIL/HIL validation, static code analysis, and auto‑code generation aligned with embedded software processes.
· Integrate models with embedded targets and support calibration/variant management.
· Support functional safety and diagnostics implementation.
· Collaborate with calibration, hardware, systems, and integration teams to support implementation and issue resolution during development and testing phases.
Required skills & experience:
· Strong expertise in MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, auto‑code generation, and embedded control strategies.
· Experience with AUTOSAR architecture, software component configuration, and tooling (e.g., SystemDesk).
· Understanding of diesel engine control systems, including emissions, diagnostics, and powertrain functions.
· Familiarity with CAN/LIN/J1939/UDS communication protocols and embedded software processes (MISRA, ASPICE).
· Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Embedded Systems, or Control Engineering.
