Hull City Football Club is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Analyst to join our 1st Team technical staff. This role plays a key part in delivering high-level tactical, video, and statistical insights to support player development and match preparation. It's an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a professional football environment, contributing directly to team performance on and off the pitch.
Position Type: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: 37.5 per week (full-time), including evenings and weekends.
Location: Training Ground, Cottingham, Hull, East Yorkshire
Your key responsibilities
* Deliver detailed pre-match opposition analysis, including tactical breakdowns, set pieces, player profiles, and key trends.
* Produce post-match reviews and statistical presentations for team and individual feedback.
* Collaborate with First Team Coaching staff to ensure analysis aligns with the club’s game model.
* Film and code matches (home and away), providing live tactical footage and immediate player feedback during home fixtures.
* Maintain and develop visual/statistical databases (formations, set pieces, goals, player metrics).
* Use performance analysis tools (e.g., Sportscode) for training and match analysis.
* Contribute to pre- and post-match debriefs and support one-to-one player reviews.
* Keep up to date with performance analysis developments and apply innovations where suitable.
* Assist with equipment management, analysis kit logistics, and maintaining a tidy, safe work environment.
* Travel with the team and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
* Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all areas of work.
What are we looking for?
* Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a performance analysis role within a professional football environment, with proven experience working in a First Team or U23 setting.
* Substantial experience working within a Scouting and Recruitment or Performance Analysis department.
* Skilled in filming matches using wide-angle techniques and performance analysis software such as Sports Code and/or NAC Sport.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed opposition analysis and manage large sets of performance data effectively.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems, with strong data handling and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication, time management, and organisational abilities.
* High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining exceptional professional standards.
* Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong work ethic with a professional approach and a willingness to learn and develop within elite sport.
* Demonstrable in-depth football knowledge, including tactical concepts and current trends in the modern game.
* Experience of line managing or leading a team is desirable.
Education and Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in Sports Science, Sports Coaching, Performance Analysis, or a closely related field (Essential).
* Postgraduate qualification in Sports Performance Analysis or a related discipline (Desirable).
* FA Level 1 Coaching Licence or above (FA Level 2 desirable).
