About The Role
Balfour Beatty are looking for a Project Design Controls Manager to join their Power T&D business in Scotland, focused on the Skye 132kV reinforcement project.
Role Purpose
Monitoring design package status for approval, procurement or construction, ensuring compliance with scheduled work tasks, contract requirements and programmed plan.
Tracking and highlighting change, implementing impact assessments, risk reductions and agreement implementation. Reporting to the Technical Director and working with Engineering Managers, Commercial team and Suppliers.
What you'll be doing
 * Define and report on design team personnel and organizational progress according to the Design and Engineering Management Plan.
 * Assist the Engineering Managers in monitoring assured design delivery.
 * Oversee planner work, normal progress monitoring and reporting.
 * Provide SEM (DC) with cost‑linked measurement data to enable detailed design progress forecasts.
 * Capture and integrate programme, budget, cost and risk at asset and sub‑asset level.
 * Set up visual performance metrics to help the Project Team deliver on time and improve performance.
 * Use IT and systems to gather timely, accurate reporting of project performance.
Who we're looking for
Qualities
 * Appetite for contributing to project management via the Design & Engineering Management Plan.
 * Willingness to handle events that cause delays or changes.
 * Good time management and routine reporting.
 * Clear communication and interpersonal skills.
 * Collaboration and respect for team values.
Experience
 * Measuring progress and reporting against Gantt charts and P6 programmes.
 * Managing construction works >£25 million per year.
 * Managing subcontractors or suppliers – chairing progress meetings, certifying payments, delay recovery.
 * Experience in ISO9001 QA environments and following Project Execution Plan or accredited Quality System.
 * Planning & project control services in large complex construction environments.
 * Knowledge of CDM 2015/2017 requirements.
 * Risk and opportunity management.
 * Experience with NEC3 contracts.
 * Relevant management experience for APM or Prince qualifications.
 * Daily interaction with peers; occasional on‑site presence.
