Key Responsibilities as a Private Client Solicitor
* Managing a diverse caseload of private client matters, including wills, trusts, estate planning, probate, powers of attorney and court of protection matters.
* Advising clients on inheritance tax, asset protection, and succession planning strategies
* Drafting, reviewing, and interpreting wills, trust documents, deeds, letters of wishes, and other related legal documents
* Administering estates, including applying for grants of probate, collating assets, and liaising with beneficiaries, executors, and third parties
* Advising on mental capacity issues, Court of Protection applications, and managing deputyship matters
* Maintaining direct contact with clients, providing clear, sensitive, and professional advice tailored to their individual circumstances
* Ensuring compliance with all Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and professional regulatory obligations
* Collaborating with colleagues across departments and external partners to deliver comprehensive client solutions
Essential Skills and Experience in Private Client Law
* Qualified solicitor with proven experience in private client work, including wills, probate, trusts, and estate administration
* Strong technical knowledge of current laws, tax implications, and regulatory frameworks relevant to private client matters
* Ability to manage your own caseload effectively, demonstrating sound judgement and autonomy
* Excellent client relationship and communication skills, with an empathetic and pragmatic approach
* High proficiency in drafting legal documents and strong attention to detail
* Competence in using Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
