Description
To contribute to the department by decontaminating and sorting wood products manually, supporting the operation, assist with maintenance of all site equipment and general housekeeping.
Responsibilities
1. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. 1. Preparation
2. 1.1 Ensure understanding of the daily production plan, your duties and where you fit into operations
3. 1.2 Complete daily start up checks on all machinery and report defects where necessary
4. 1.3 Support the site operation by emptying tip bins, moving materials when requested and assisting with refuelling and housekeeping
5. 1.4 Ensure you have and wear the required personal protective equipment and it is in good order to carry out your duties
6. 1.5 Follow all site and company procedures, conducting duties safely to not endanger themselves or others
7. 1.6 Work with the team to maintain a clean and safe site
8. 1.7 Removal of any contamination from any area including the picking station
9. 1.8 Assist with site cleaning and housekeeping
2. 2. Specialised
1. 2.1 Monitor incoming wood loads and remove contamination (Load Inspection)
2. 2.2 Unload pallets from incoming wagons using the Telehandler (if trained)
3. 2.3 General housekeeping, including use of air hose lines, water hoses, shovels and brushes
4. 2.4 Assist with site maintenance within own capabilities
5. 2.5 Load inspection and packaging duties (If trained)
6. 2.6 Operate necessary Mobile Plant in accordance with department requirements (If trained)
7. 2.7 Operate necessary static Plant in accordance with department requirements (If trained)
3. 3. Policy Compliance
1. 3.1 Adhere to all Company Policies, Procedures and Health and Safety documentation
2. 3.2 Maintain confidentiality regarding all Company and customer information
3. 3.3 Ensure cleanliness in work and communal areas and follow "clean as you go"
4. 3.4 Read and understand site-specific procedures, emergency procedures, Generic Risk Assessments, and isolation procedures relevant to duties
5. 3.5 Do not operate any equipment unless trained or authorised
4. 4. Monitoring
1. 4.1 Report breaches of Company Policy, Procedures and Health and Safety
2. 4.2 Report near misses, damage, incidents and accidents on site
3. 4.3 Monitor and record fuel issued to mobile and static plant machinery
4. 4.4 Report machine/activity defects as they occur
5. 4.5 Record packaging with incoming material per training and site procedures
6. 4.6 Action any downgrade, contamination or rejection loads according to site procedures
7. 4.7 Record prestart checks and OEE documentation
5. 5. Communication
1. 5.1 Maintain effective communication with colleagues, management and others inside and outside the organisation
2. 5.2 Maintain clear communication with customers, interpreting and responding to requests and instructions
3. 5.3 Act as traffic marshal as per training to ensure safe operations
4. 5.4 Use radio communication in operational areas for safety
6. 6. Additional
1. 6.1 Work within the key objectives and performance indicators of the role
2. 6.2 Provide cover where necessary for colleagues and other sites within the group
3. 6.3 Pursue personal development and training to progress skills
4. 6.4 Identify improvements to work activities or department
5. 6.5 Undertake reasonable requests to meet business needs with training provided
