Principal Urban Designer – Manchester
Principal Urban Designer role based in Manchester, focused on UK regeneration and master‑planning projects. This position suits an experienced designer with strong UK planning knowledge, leading mixed‑use and town centre schemes across varied scales. You will guide projects from concept to planning, working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment on landscape‑led developments.
Responsibilities
* Lead urban design and master‑planning projects
* Develop concepts for regeneration and mixed‑use schemes
* Manage design stages through planning submission
* Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams
* Engage clients, stakeholders, and consultants
* Prepare graphics for planning and design reviews
* Oversee junior team members
* Maintain design and delivery standards
* Support project programming and outputs
* Contribute to business development activities
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum five years UK urban design experience
* Strong knowledge of the UK planning system
* Background in design or planning discipline
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe, 3D software
* Experience leading projects and client relationships
* Strong communication and presentation skills
* Experience delivering regeneration or mixed‑use schemes
* Ability to manage programmes and deadlines
* Collaborative approach within multidisciplinary teams
* Relevant postgraduate or professional qualification
Salary & Benefits
£40,000 - £55,000 depending on experience. Includes profit share, private healthcare option, enhanced pension, wellbeing support, and up to 29 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
