Location: StockportContract: Permanent, Full-TimeSalary: £28,000 – £30,000Hours: 08:00–16:30 or 08:30–17:00 (Mon–Fri)

The Opportunity
This is a key role for an individual who enjoys working with data, technical drawings, and supplier networks. As the Estimator & Purchasing Coordinator, you will support projects from initial costing right through to materials procurement. You’ll play an important part in helping the business deliver profitable, well-planned projects while maintaining strong supplier relationships and accurate cost control.
The ideal candidate will be commercially aware, confident analysing information, and comfortable working across different departments.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Interpreting drawings, specifications, and project details to calculate material, labour, and production costs.
* Preparing accurate estimates to support quotes and tenders for commercial clients.
* Comparing projected costs with actual spend to identify variances and help improve future pricing accuracy.
* Liaising with suppliers, internal teams, and installation staff to resolve queries and support smooth project delivery.
* Working closely with sales, design, and subcontractors to update or refine estimates when project requirements change.
* Producing cost breakdowns, progress summaries, and financial reports throughout the project lifecycle.
* Overseeing purchasing activity, including sourcing, negotiating, and raising purchase orders.
* Keeping an organised and current supplier and subcontractor register.
* Supporting the tendering process by gathering quotes, analysing options, and ensuring best-value procurement.
* Encouraging clear communication between departments to streamline workflows.
* Assisting senior management with assigned projects and contributing to wider business improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Need
* Strong numerical ability and confidence working with detailed information.
* Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
* Experience working with suppliers, including negotiation and purchasing processes.
* Ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally.
* Comfortable using estimation or procurement software.
* Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
* Previous experience in estimating, buying, or a related commercial function (ideally within manufacturing, construction, or similar sectors).
* Understanding of materials, production methods, or construction processes.
* Experience with budgets, cost analysis, or procurement best practice.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
