Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced compliance professional to join the Amazon Payments UK (APUK) team to support compliance operations of the firm. The Compliance Manager will be responsible for supporting regulatory compliance of the payments propositions within the UK.
The Compliance Manager will be part of the 2nd line Compliance Office and responsible for providing regulatory oversight and approval for new programs, providing expert advice to stakeholders, and supporting strategy design with regulatory input.
This role requires a subject matter expert to contribute within a fast-paced, growing team. You will champion customer outcomes, leverage your knowledge of industry and regulatory trends to ensure sustainable, compliant solutions. You should be comfortable handling ambiguity, providing pragmatic challenges, and diving into details. Creativity in problem-solving during uncertain times is essential.
Key job responsibilities
1. Assist in ensuring APUK’s payment activities operate in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements by monitoring business activity compliance.
2. Apply working knowledge of FCA regulations such as Consumer Duty Regulations and Payment Services Regulations to articulate customer/control impact and align efforts across teams.
3. Assist with the development, documentation, and maintenance of policies and procedures.
4. Provide compliance awareness and training to the business.
5. Prepare reports for internal governance committees.
6. Review, challenge, and approve risk records, policy breaches, and escalation matters.
7. Collaborate with business leads to gather relevant information for responses to auditors and regulators (ad hoc and regulatory returns).
8. Stay updated on relevant regulations by monitoring regulatory changes and emerging risks, communicating key developments internally, and supporting regulatory change implementation.
Basic Qualifications
* At least four years of compliance experience in financial services, risk management, or within a regulatory body or consultancy.
* Strong understanding and experience with Payment Services Regulations 2017 and FCA regulations, including complaint handling, safeguarding, operational resilience, and consumer duty.
* Excellent team player with collaborative skills to achieve results, resolve issues, and share information effectively.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
* Willingness to learn and quickly become an SME on new requirements.
* Effective influencing, stakeholder management, presentation, and communication skills.
* Resilient and capable of leading in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
* Strong judgment and analytical skills.
* Ownership and results-driven, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in the payments sector and/or fintech environment.
* Experience managing relationships with regulatory bodies.
* Proven experience working with FCA regulations and compliance requirements such as Payment Services Regulations (2017), Electronic Money Regulations (2011), Consumer Duty, and other FCA policies.
