Engagement officer

University of Bath
Engagement officer
€35,000 a year
Posted: 29 March
Offer description

The Wessex Inspiration Network (WIN) is one of the UniConnect consortia being funded by the Office for Students (OfS) to increase progression of under-represented students to higher education.

The focus is in areas where fewer than average numbers of qualified young people continue to further study. The WIN works across Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and Wiltshire and is led by the University of Bath, but has members from across HE, FE, schools and local employers.

The WIN Engagement Officer leads the partnership’s liaison with schools and colleges to plan, coordinate and deliver outreach activity, ensuring that events are effectively designed, well communicated and responsive to the needs of the institutions we support. This includes maintaining strong working relationships with universities, schools, colleges and external partners, helping them to understand the full range of opportunities available and supporting those opportunities through to delivery.

About you

The successful candidate will be a personable, driven, and passionate person who can create and maintain strong relationships with people at all levels across different types of organisations.

You will

* understand the UK education system and as a self-starter you’ll be keen to make a difference in the local education sector.
* have a can-do attitude and be resilient and tenacious when developing relationships.
* be able to see the bigger picture across the region and be able to understand how different organisations can ‘fit’ into the solutions for educational challenges across the region.
* seek to understand and share activities already on offer in the region, and identify areas of need.
* create relationships with schools, organisations, local authorities, charities and HE and FE providers across the region.
* create spaces (small meetings, or conference style events) where parties can come together to identify the educational challenges in the region and then begin to facilitate solutions (ensuring the right people are connected, or working with partners).

Further information

This is a fixed-term role until 30 October 2026, with the potential for extension based on future funding from the Office for Students.

Travel outside of the university is expected, alongside attendance at meetings and events outside of normal working hours, therefore a current UK driving licence is required.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check is required for this role.

For an informal discussion about this role please contact Joanne Bonnet, Head of the Wessex Inspiration Network at jtb65@bath.ac.uk or Andrew Ross, Deputy Director (Student Recruitment and Admissions) & Head of Access, Recruitment and Outreach at ajr55@bath.ac.uk.
