A Day in the Life The Principal Technical Consultant or Principal Affera Mapping Specialist role is designed to recognize and leverage the expertise of experienced TC’s by allocating 30% of their time to a specialist focus area that supports the wider UKI CAS strategy. These areas may include, but are not limited to, Education, Supervision, Innovation, or Strategic Projects. The remaining 70% of time is dedicated to delivering high-quality clinical and technical support in the field. In their specialist capacity, Principal TCs act as key contributors and thought leaders, helping to shape and drive initiatives that enhance team capability, customer engagement, and business performance. Time Allocation: 70% Field TC Responsibilities / 30% Specialist Focus. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: Specialist Focus (30%) Lead initiatives aligned to the chosen specialism (e.g., design and delivery of educational content, supervision of new team members, piloting new technologies or programs) Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Training, and Education) to support business goals Act as a point of reference and coach for the wider TC team, sharing expertise and driving engagement in their specialist area Support the creation and tracking of metrics to evaluate the success and impact of initiatives Represent the UKI in regional or global working groups related to the specialist focus. Core Field Responsibilities (70%) Provide expert clinical and technical support during procedures and product adoption Deliver training and education to clinicians and EP lab staff Contribute to territory development through high-quality customer interactions and clinical excellence Maintain alignment with district and national strategies. Required Knowledge and Experience: 6 years of relevant experience as a Cardiac Physiologist or in a clinical/technical role specializing in Cardiac Electrophysiology Recognized as a role model within the Technical Consultant community and demonstrates high performance in field-based responsibilities Passionate about developing others, driving innovation, or shaping strategic direction within CAS and committed to continuous improvement and professional development Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to influence at all levels Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and alignment with Medtronic’s values A collaborative team player who contributes to a positive and high-performing culture Willingness to travel and engage with customers and colleagues across the UKI/NWE. Accreditation with a relevant professional body (e.g., IBHRE, EHRA, BHRS) is a great advantage.
