Trustee Opportunities at Esher Sixth Form College

Esher Sixth Form College is an outstanding, inclusive sixth form college serving Surrey, South West London and beyond. We are proud of our strong academic outcomes, our inclusive ethos, and our commitment to helping every student thrive.

We are seeking new Trustees to join our Board and help shape the next chapter of the College’s development. This is a voluntary, non‑executive role with real influence and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to young people’s lives. Our Trustees provide strategic leadership, ensure robust accountability, and oversee the educational and financial performance of the College.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds but in particular those with experience in:

1. Finance
2. Digital
3. Education
4. Human Resources

We also value transferable skills, community leadership, and lived experience. We believe that diverse voices strengthen our governance and enrich our decision making. We welcome interest from candidates who can help broaden the range of perspectives on our Board, including those who may not typically see themselves represented in such positions.

Why Become a Trustee at Esher Sixth Form College

Serving as a Trustee at Esher allows you to use your professional experience in a purposeful way, influencing the direction of an outstanding college and supporting the success of young people at a formative stage in their lives. You will join a thoughtful, collaborative Board, develop your strategic and governance skills, and contribute to a community that values inclusion, ambition and continuous improvement.

Time Commitment and Support

Trustees commit to four Board meetings a year and take part in two committees, each of which meets three times annually normally for a couple of hours in the early evening. Those who wish to be more involved can also act as linked trustees, joining around three additional meetings each year.

Beyond these formal commitments, trustees are welcome—though never required—to engage more deeply in college life including an annual Trustee Day. You will be supported throughout with a thorough induction, ongoing development opportunities and professional clerking to help you make a meaningful and confident contribution.

Safeguarding Statement

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is our highest priority. All appointments are subject to rigorous safer recruitment checks, including enhanced DBS clearance, online searches, and satisfactory references. We require candidates to explain any employment gaps and provide evidence of their right to work in the UK.

Esher Sixth Form College is committed to promoting equality and diversity and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
