Midwife

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and proactive Midwives who are passionate about delivering a high quality service to women and their families. We welcome new ideas and suggestions for service improvement for women to have the best possible experience wherever they deliver.
The acute site setting posts are rotational between the Labour Ward & the post/antenatal wards.
Main duties of the job
* To utilise the full skills of a midwife as laid down in the World Health's Organisations definition of a midwife to ensure individualised care for women and families.
* To be responsible for the management of individualised care to a defined group of mothers and babies by using the assessing, planning and implementing and evaluating process within the multi-disciplinary framework.
* To develop with colleagues new practice initiatives that are evidenced based ensuring a first class quality service.
* To develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and attend and lead meetings while promoting a positive team spirit.
* Develop excellent leadership / managerial skills to ensure a dynamic and innovative approach to team building / performance.
* To make efficient and effective use of resources with regular review of personal and service objectives ensuring personal annual appraisal and supervisor of midwives review are performed.
* To maintain a safe working environment in accordance with risk management and statutory guidelines reporting and acting on all accidents and incidents whilst maintaining accurate records.
* To develop an interest or take a lead role in a specific area of practice and share the knowledge and skills gained with other members of staff.
* Adhere to the NMC "The Midwives Rules and Standards" and "Code of Professional Conduct"

Qualifications and training
* Current NMC/HCPC registration
* Health related degree relevant to professional registration and area of clinical practice or holds band 6 post registration modules with plan to complete degree programme.
* Evidence of continuing professional development and/or recognised course/ qualification within Midwifery
* Formal teaching or preceptorship, mentoring qualification including ENB 998/997, or equivalent
* Member of relevant royal college professional society
Knowledge, skills and experience
* Significant post graduate healthcare experience, across a range of clinical specialties
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience of delivering high quality clinical care using enhanced skills within Midwifery specialty aligned to the four pillars of practice
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* IT skills relevant to digital healthcare and role
* Teaching and facilitation skills
Governance
* Awareness of professional issues and current Healthcare relating to Quality Governance, NICE and CQC, GIRFT
* Awareness of quality governance, clinical effectiveness patient safety and patient experience tools to support clinical practice and service improvement
* Clinical Audit skills and experience relevant to role
Personal/ professional attributes
* Ability to work within a team to achieving goals and motivate others
* Ability to work under pressure to problem solve, plan and prioritise care
* Demonstrate knowledge of change management and impact
