Senior Pharmacy Assistant (Dispensary) – Band 3

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Pharmacy Dispensary Assistant to join the Pharmacy Department Team at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (West Middlesex Site). We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant who is willing to work within a supportive Pharmacy team keen to develop the pharmacy services. The post holder must possess excellent interpersonal, problem solving and time management skills and be able to work with a wide range of professionals. The successful candidate will be based in the Dispensary and will be required to work weekends and bank holidays. Previous experience of working in a pharmacy hospital is essential.
Main duties of the job
* Manage stock control and act as a super user for the Rowa system
* Train rotational assistants and other grades of staffing
* Dispense medication in the Inpatient and Outpatient dispensary
Job responsibilities
Stock & Inventory
* Stock control management including putting stock away, rotating stock, checking expiries, and performing stock control counts
* Ensure dispensary areas are sufficiently stocked with sundries (leaflets, cards, bottles, bags)
* Sort, count, compile and dispose of unsuitable medication returns
* Carry out daily monitoring of fridge and dispensary temperatures
* Release and order stock from Stores
* Act as Rowa super user and provide training where required
* Monitor all "follow" drugs
* General housekeeping of Rowa
* Adjust stock/expired stock investigations
Person Specification
Education & Qualification
* English, Maths and Science GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent
* NVQ 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent (including Dispensing units) or willing to work towards
Experience
* Previous experience of working in a hospital Pharmacy
* Customer Service
* Pharmacy labelling and stock control systems
* Experience of using JAC
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Accurately dispense to set standards
* Ability to support and train others
* Ability to motivate self and others and demonstrate enthusiasm for the position
* Ability to communicate routine information effectively using clear written and spoken English
* Ability to clearly and accurately complete routine documentation
* Ability to use basic IT including Word, E‑mail etc.
* Familiar with Pharmacy procedures and workflow
