About the role
We are recruiting to join our Transport Team at our Booker Distribution Centre in Fareham, Hampshire.
As a Transport Team Manager, you will support the site management team in the efficient, safe, legal, and cost-effective management of transport operations.
The objective of the role is to ensure that our large, fast-moving transport operation runs smoothly and efficiently by achieving optimal service levels across all contracts while working to specific KPIs.
Ideal candidates will have knowledge of the transport function within the FMCG distribution industry, previous experience supervising depot transport operations, and a strong understanding of transport legislation.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Transport Logistics Manager, you will:
* Achieve operational KPIs and service agreements, promoting a positive team culture.
* Manage vehicle breakdowns to minimize retailer impact.
* Analyze tachograph infringement reports and liaise with drivers and warehouse operations to ensure timely loading and departures.
* Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, including driver hours and fleet maintenance, MOTs, and defect management.
Candidate requirements
* Strong commitment and ability to work under pressure.
* Excellent people management and development skills.
* High levels of initiative, focus, flexibility, and commitment.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation such as Health & Safety, Employment Law, Discrimination, etc. - Essential.
* Understanding of transport legislation and its impact on operator license compliance - Essential.
* Experience with multi-temperature warehouse/transport procedures - Essential.
* Ability to plan labor and resources effectively to meet KPIs and service levels.
* Effective communication skills and a confident team player.
* Proficiency in Microsoft 365 - Essential.
* WMS experience and CPC qualification are desirable.
