About the role
We are recruiting to join our Transport Team at our Booker Distribution Centre in Fareham, Hampshire.
As a Transport Team Manager, you will support the site management team in the efficient, safe, legal, and cost-effective management of transport operations.
The objective of the role is to ensure our large, fast-moving transport operation runs smoothly and efficiently, achieving optimum service levels across all contracts while working to specific KPIs.
It is important that you have knowledge of the transport function within the FMCG distribution industry and previous experience in supervising depot transport operations. A strong knowledge of transport legislation is essential.

Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Transport Logistics Manager, you will:
o Achieve operational KPIs and service agreements within deadlines, promoting a positive team culture.
o Manage vehicle breakdowns to minimize retailer impact.
o Analyse tachograph infringement reports, discuss infringements with drivers, and coordinate with warehouse operations for timely loading and departure.
o Ensure legal compliance with transport legislation, including driver hours, fleet maintenance, MOTs, and defect management.
Required skills and experience
o Commitment and ability to work under pressure.

o High initiative, focus, flexibility, and commitment.
o Knowledge of relevant legislation, health & safety, employment law, and discrimination laws (essential).
o Understanding of transport legislation and its impact on operator licenses (essential).
o Knowledge of multi-temperature warehouse/transport procedures and compliance (essential).
o Ability to plan labor and resources effectively to meet KPIs and service levels.
o Effective team worker with confident communication skills.
o Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (essential), WMS (desirable), and CPC qualification (desirable).
