Trust Doctor (CT1 / 2 Equivalent) in Trauma and Orthopaedics
Applications are invited for a Trust Doctor (CT1/CT2 Equivalent) in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro. This post is ideal for those looking for an F3 or CT3 year and wanting to develop their skills and CV.
The Royal Cornwall Hospital operates across three sites: Royal Cornwall Hospital Truro (main DGH), St Michael's Hospital Hayle, and West Cornwall Hospital Penzance. Trauma services are delivered at Truro and elective orthopaedic surgery at Truro and St Michael's. The 56‑bed Trauma Unit runs 18 trauma and 15 elective operating lists per week.
Main duties of the job
Job Plan
The post holder will be part of a 1:10 rota (CT level) providing a 24/7 on‑call commitment.
On Call Availability
Weekday, weekend and night on‑calls as part of the rota template.
* Work as part of a team to admit and care for patients on the ward, in clinics and theatre.
* Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management and delivery of trauma and orthopaedic services.
* Actively participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit.
* Fulfil duties of the weekly timetable.
* Support sustainability initiatives towards NHS Net Zero.
Qualifications
* GMC Registration with a Full Licence to Practice.
* Eligible to work at CT level.
* ILS/ALS or equivalent training.
* Relevant surgical courses or examinations (ATLS).
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation Competences.
* Completion of six months experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics by start of appointment.

Post subject to Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975; a submission will be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) to verify any previous criminal convictions.
