Part-Time Humanities - Maternity Cover
Location: Blackburn
Start Date: October/November 2025
Contract: Part-Time (2 Days per Week) Fixed Term until December 2026
Setting: Alternative Provision Ages 11-16
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a passionate and adaptable Humanities Teacher to join a dedicated Alternative Provision setting, providing education for pupils aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.
This role is a maternity cover, starting in October or November 2025, running until November 2026, for two days per week.
About the Role
You\'ll be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inclusive lessons in Humanities, tailored to meet the diverse needs of students who may struggle in mainstream education settings.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver History and RE lessons to small groups of students
* Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment
* Differentiate lessons to suit varying levels of ability and emotional needs
* Work collaboratively with pastoral and support teams to promote student progress
* Monitor and report on student development
Ideal Candidate
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) - applications from ECTs also welcomed
* Experience teaching History and/or Religious Education
* A strong understanding of SEMH needs and behaviour management strategies
* Resilience, patience, and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils
* A genuine commitment to helping vulnerable students succeed
