About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Ground Engineering team working in Leiston, Suffolk as part of the Sizewell C project.
Role purpose
To support Balfour Beatty, delivering the project in accordance with customer and stakeholder requirements and commitments, including verification activities to demonstrate compliance against Balfour Beatty requirements, external accreditations and industry good practice.
To support the co‑ordination, submission, compliance and management of all assurance activities and the resolution of assurance related issues. To ensure implementation of procedures including submissions from the supply chain and establishing test and inspection plans for delivery of the works.
What you'll be doing
* Support and coordinate project teams in developing the quality plans/inspection & test plans, ensuring they are followed and that requirements are being met, and review those from the supply chain.
* Coach and assist delivery teams in achieving the required deliverables, managing issues as required, and providing quality advice to our supply chain where appropriate.
* Implement and use the appropriate digital systems to monitor the performance of quality planning/production of quality deliverables and managing of issues against targets.
* Use principles of quality assurance, and where appropriate technical integrity, to ensure the customer requirements are clearly understood and that quality control mechanisms are in place to provide assurance that the asset and/or service delivers as designed/required.
* Support the development of either project or business stream quality strategies and plans and the delivery and implementation of measurement frameworks, programmes and actions across the scope of services and full project lifecycle.
* Support the undertaking of specific investigations and/or reporting on quality related issues as required.
* Conduct appropriate visits to supplier premises to conduct supply chain audits.
* Prepare and issue supply chain audit reports and follow the status of observations and nonconformities raised to ensure their timely closure.
* Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders in the supply chain to discuss quality related matters, catalogue, and distribute the relevant minutes of meetings.
* Coordinate any improvements that will be made to the project specific procedures and processes and ensure they are communicated to the teams. Coordinate the preparation of monthly Quality reporting and ensure it is made available in a timely manner before official distribution.
* Coordinate with the relevant client Digital and project Delivery teams on the digitisation of forms and ensure they are ready in a timely manner and communicated to the teams.
* Assist the Quality Manager and conduct training sessions for project and supply chain teams.
* Identify to the Quality Manager any necessary revisions to the procedures and templates.
* Be responsible for ensuring that quality related data is stored and entered correctly in a system for use and manipulation by the project’s Data Engineer/Business Analyst.
* Support Line Managers and guide Quality Engineers based at Orwell Office on their daily activities.
Who we're looking for
Essential qualities/experiences:
* An understanding and commitment to Quality Management.
* Prior Quality experience and/or relevant operational/technical experience to meet industry sector demands.
* Level 4+ Qualification in Quality, Construction or Manufacturing (relevant industry).
* Has an enquiring and questioning approach to audit work and experience in managing accreditation audits.
* Experience in driving business improvement and leading change within a business.
* Has the ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and can work to plans, programmes and budgets.
* Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion.
* Is good at building relationships and can influence effectively.
* Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective manner.
* Ability to challenge existing methods and ways of thinking with the ability to work within a multi‑discipline team.
* Fully proficient in modern office computer systems and technology e.g. Office 365.
* A CQI Practitioner and working towards Chartered status with Major Project Experience.
Desirable:
* ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor trained.
* Awareness of sector specific certifications and their requirements.
* Experience in using Digital Progressive Assurance systems / Electronic Forms.
* Operational experience in construction or asset management.
