The Village Surgery is seeking a motivated and compassionate Part-Time Salaried GP (4-6 sessions) to join our friendly and supportive primary care team in Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme. This is an excellent opportunity for a GP who values continuity of care, teamwork, and high-quality, patient-centred general practice.
We welcome applications from experienced GPs as well as those recently qualified or returning to practice, and we are open to flexible working arrangements.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will provide comprehensive general medical services to our registered patients and work collaboratively within the wider multidisciplinary team.

Job responsibilities
You are part of a high performing team, responsible for providing high-quality, safe, and effective general medical services to the registered patient population of The Village Surgery. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary care team to deliver patient-centred care, promote health and wellbeing, and contribute to the ongoing development and sustainability of the practice.
Clinical Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive primary medical care to our registered patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
* Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and digital consultations as required
* Manage acute illness, long-term conditions, and preventative care in line with national and local guidelines
* Undertake home visits where appropriate
* Prescribe safely and cost-effectively in accordance with practice and NHS policies
* Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records using EMIS Web
* Review and action laboratory results, correspondence, and clinical tasks in a timely manner
* Participate in duty doctor/on‑call arrangements appropriate to the role and agreed sessions
Quality, Governance, and Safety
* Work within practice policies, clinical governance frameworks, and CQC standards
* Contribute to clinical audits, significant event analyses, and quality improvement activity
* Maintain awareness of, and comply with, NICE guidance, local pathways, and prescribing formularies
* Identify and manage safeguarding concerns in line with statutory requirements
* Support the practice in meeting contractual and QOF requirements
* Multidisciplinary Team Working
* Work collaboratively with the wider practice team, including nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, first contact practitioners, and administrative staff
* Communicate effectively with secondary care, community services, and external agencies
* Participate in practice meetings and clinical discussions
* Provide advice and support to other team members where appropriate
Professional Development
* Maintain GMC revalidation requirements, including appraisal and CPD
* Keep up to date with clinical developments relevant to general practice
* Participate in training, mentoring, or supervision activities where appropriate and agreed
* Support a culture of learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
Contribution to Practice Development
* Support service development and improvement initiatives within the practice
* Contribute to achieving practice objectives and maintaining high patient satisfaction

Working Arrangements
* Part‑time salaried role, 46 sessions per week (negotiable)

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
* Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List
* Completion of GP training (CCT or equivalent)
* Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Good organisational and time-management skills
* Experience working in UK general practice
* Familiarity with EMIS Web
* Interest in clinical leadership, education, or service development
* Experience contributing to audit or quality improvement work
Experience
* Experience working in UK general practice and familiarity with EMIS Web is desirable but not essential.
