The Role
A reputable and busy legal practice is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to support its residential conveyancing team. This position is ideal for someone highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident working in a fast-paced property environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive secretarial support to fee earners within the conveyancing department
* Prepare and format legal documents, contracts, and correspondence
* Manage diaries, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings
* Handle incoming calls, emails, and client enquiries in a professional manner
* Open and maintain client files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date
* Assist with the progression of property transactions from instruction through to completion
* Liaise with clients, estate agents, lenders, and solicitors to support smooth transactions
* Carry out audio typing and general document production
* Submit searches, Land Registry applications, and SDLT forms where required
* Ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements
* Provide general administrative support to the wider team
Skills & Experience Required
* Previous experience as a Legal Secretary within a conveyancing or property department
* Strong audio typing and document production skills
* Excellent organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks
* Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
* Experience using case management systems such as LEAP or similar
* Knowledge of the residential conveyancing process
