We would love you to join the Team at Nailsea School, as one of our Cover Supervisors - you would oversee the learning of whole classes during the short-term absence of their class teacher, to ensure that classes are effectively supervised and supported, and that the work, which has been set by the class teacher, is completed to a satisfactory level. When not required to cover lessons, your skills may be used to assist in supporting students in other classes, alongside the teacher.
The role would suit anyone who can demonstrate a passion for encouraging students to learn and do their best, and could serve as excellent experience for someone wanting more classroom experience, perhaps a newly qualified teacher or someone who is thinking about training to be a teacher in the future.
We strive to achieve excellence for all students through outstanding teaching and learning, and if you are dedicated and passionate about children’s learning, you could join our team and help to make that happen. The successful candidate will consistently be able to apply a firm but fair approach, and excellent behaviour management skills, upholding the School's behaviour policy at all times.
The main responsibilities within this role are to:
1. Deliver the lesson plans of absent teaching staff, and support students in the work that has been set
2. Enable students’ access to learning by supervising and assisting students (one to one and in small groups) across a wide range of activities and supported learning activities
3. Assist in preparing the learning environment and the materials used within lessons
4. Record and report attendance at lessons in accordance with school policy
5. Manage student behaviour to ensure a constructive working environment, in accordance with school policy
6. Inspire, and develop our student's talents and aspirations
