Salary: JNC Points 08-15 (£24,799 - £31,528) pro rata. Contract: Permanent. Hours: 18 hours per week (multiple posts available).
Leeds Youth Service delivers universal, targeted, and holistic youth work support to young people across the city. You will support, empower, and educate young people as they transition to adulthood, addressing emotional and mental wellbeing, physical health, sexual health, substance misuse, risk-taking behaviours, sport, activities, and safe peer spaces. Leeds Youth Service is part of the Safer, Stronger, Communities Team.

Responsibilities
* Work directly with young people to develop and maintain relationships to identify starting points, needs, and hopes.
* Support the design and delivery of programmes responsive to young people’s needs and aspirations; reflect the Youth Work curriculum.
* Assist in developing the Service by planning, delivering, monitoring, and reviewing youth work provision.
* Encourage young people to participate in designing, delivering, and reviewing programmes.
* Foster an environment that challenges thinking, attitudes, and behaviour appropriately.
* Contribute to the Youth Services performance targets.
* Lead, support, and develop staff for whom you have line management responsibility (as applicable).
* Undertake relevant training for service needs and professional development.
* Ensure all work underpins equality and diversity principles and a safe youth work environment.
* Maintain effective relationships with staff, external agencies, and the public; continually improve practice through evaluation and development.
Qualifications
* Minimum JNC endorsed Level 3 NVQ/VRQ Initial qualification in Youth Work is essential for the Youth Worker post.
* Youth Worker In Training will undertake a JNC recognised Level 3 Youth Work qualification as part of the role, funded by the service.
Essential Requirements
* Able to work flexibly across locations and times; ability to build constructive relationships with young people.
* Support young people in tackling problems and taking action; work with groups; safeguarding responsibilities.
* Record and evaluate youth work sessions; adapt programmes to needs; understand equality and diversity policies.
* Knowledge of health and safety, child protection, local/national policies related to youth work.
* Experience of working with young people in a youth work environment and enabling group work.
Desirable
* Ability to promote and develop effective teamwork; lead on immediate health and safety issues.
* Hold a current driving licence; knowledge of case management systems.
