To ensure the day-to-day running of the service provides the environment for assessment to take place and that babies and children are protected during their stay at the centre. • To lead shifts and oversee staff management and supervision, ensuring that shifts are managed to provide for individual assessment needs, groups and appointments as necessary. • To ensure that families are monitored throughout the shifts and that staff are organised to observe parenting skills. • To work with families individually to ensure that they are completing the stages of assessment, meeting their targets and providing families with feedback on the assessment process. • To ensure that the family's risk assessments are complete and updated and that all staff are aware of current risk management strategies, including safeguarding concerns and specific guidelines. • To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, such as the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards for Children's Homes, Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, Data Protection Act 2018, and Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. • Ensure the centre is safely maintained and that routine checks of the premises and garden take place on every shift. • To ensure that family placement plans are complete and up to date. To ensure that the plans contain the input from families and that their views are considered. • To ensure that family key workers are up to date with their case work, that they are progressing the assessment within timelines and to quality check the assessment process and reports of each family key worker. • To chair family meetings, reviews, case planning and assessment meetings and ensure that key workers are prepared for meetings and court appearances. • To support family key workers with the management of their families, oversee the placement planning and offer support, direction and coaching to them. • To ensure daily paperwork, logbooks, priority plans, and records are completed daily and contribute to the overall assessment. • To ensure that family key work sessions are taking place weekly and monitor the quality of the sessions, ensuring they correspond to the family placement plan. • Ensure daily handovers take place and that relevant information is passed between shifts. • To ensure the centre promotes safeguarding and child protection and action is taken to ensure risks are identified, mitigated and managed. • Work flexibly to ensure adequate coverage for the service, including evening work, weekend work, and bank holidays, inclusive of sleep-ins. • To act as a positive role model and provide effective supervision and guidance for the team, contributing to their performance and professional development. • Support the Registered Manager in delivering and maintaining a high-quality service. • Work within organisational policy and procedure established in the centre. • Deputise in the Manager's absence and cover for senior support workers and team leaders where necessary. • Take part in the recruitment of prospective staff as needed. Qualifications and Education • HCPC recognised Social Work qualification • Level 4 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services; or equivalent; or preparedness to work towards the same. Experience • A minimum of two years of experience relevant to children's residential care in the last five years. Knowledge and Understanding • The Residential Family Centres Regulations 2002 (amended) 2013 and Residential Family Centres National Minimum Standards and the social care common inspection framework (SCCIF), Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, Data Protection Act 2018, and Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. • Working knowledge of the framework for assessment of children and their families. • Understanding of policies and procedures related to running a residential family centre. • Knowledge of the care and placement planning requirements for children and families. • Knowledge and understanding in the practice of child protection and safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults and the impact of abuse and neglect, children's education and health needs, and the application of equality and diversity
