Location: Elland - Halifax
Purpose of the role:
To contribute to the overall success and delivery of the HR objectives; delivering a proactive and customer focused HR service. Providing effective support, guidance and advice to managers and employees on a wide variety of HR matters, such as employee relations, policy and process, recruitment and selection, training and development and the delivery of key projects. Ensuring we are operating in line with company policies, quality standards and Employment Law legislation.
Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
Manage employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, appeals, and medical capability.
Provide expert HR guidance to managers, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies and employment law.
HR Policy & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation, internal policies, quality standards, and HR best practice.
Keep up to date with changes in employment law and advise managers on implications and risk mitigation.
Draft, review and update HR policies and procedures; ensure clear and effective communication to employees.
Generalist HR Support:
Provide support and coaching to managers at all levels on HR matters, building competence and capability.
Guide and mentor HR colleagues and supporting their development.
Oversee and develop the HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
Assist with recruitment activity.
Support managers in designing role profiles, assessments, and selection methods.
Oversee pre‑employment checks and ensure best‑practice onboarding processes.
Data, Reporting & HR Operations:
Ensure accurate HR data management and reporting.
Driving efficiencies, specifically via the HRM Software PeopleHR
Support monthly payroll submissions.
Identify and implement improvements to HR processes and systems.
Culture, Value & Engagement:
Champion Terberg's core values.
Support engagement, wellbeing, and culture‑building initiatives across both the UK and Ireland.
Participate in cross‑functional projects, organisational change, and continuous improvement programmes.
Support internal communications and ensure effective use of the sharepoint intranet site "Bubble".
People Management Responsibilities:
Set clear personal objectives that are realistic and challenging, review objectives and provide feedback regular in one to ones and formally through the appraisal process.
Manage direct reports in line with policies and procedures, including attendance and performance management.
Coach and develop team to ensure they thrive for excellence, addressing any training and development needs, ensuring direct reports have a personal development plan.
Motivate and reward team to encourage positive behaviours within department, which support the values of Terberg DTS and the wider group.
Encourage and exhibit behaviours within the function that support the values of the business and that create an environment where mutual trust and respect are encouraged.
Effective succession planning to develop and retain team members, whilst delivering on pipeline planning for backfill positions.

Critical Knowledge Required:
Up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment law.
Knowledge of effective recruitment and selection processes.
Experience handling sensitive or complex people issues.
Strong Microsoft Office and HR systems skills, including advanced Excel.
Knowledge of HR Management System "PeopleHR" – desirable.
Qualifications and Experience Required - Essential:
Proven experience as an HR Adviser, Senior HR Adviser, HR Business Partner or similar senior generalist role.
Demonstrable experience managing employee relations cases.
Experience coaching managers and supporting HR colleagues.
CIPD Level 7 qualification (or equivalent)
