At an exciting time of development and expansion, our Store Construction department is at the forefront of ensuring the infrastructure is in place to facilitate our ambitious plans.
You will be an enthusiastic, motivated, and hardworking Project Manager/Engineer who wants to develop national strategies. You will oversee their roll outs into Building Services and Sustainability specifications and manage related projects across Lidl GB. You will be part of the design team and will be responsible for creating the UK Corporate Building specifications.
You will liaise with internal stakeholders and external design consultants, requiring a good understanding of legislation, regulations, and best practices to develop M&E design into the standard store specification, considering practicality, buildability, cost, time, and sustainability factors.
What you'll do
* Manage strategy and implementation of Lidl’s sustainability objectives, including solar photovoltaics, electric vehicle chargers, BREEAM, biodiversity, and energy reduction measures.
* Prepare and present business cases.
* Understand technical requirements to manage and implement strategies into specifications and store projects across GB.
* Coordinate external suppliers and contractors to ensure value and build strong supply chains for large-scale rollouts.
* Conduct market research and complete tenders for onboarding suppliers and contractors.
* Review supplier and contractor rates against market changes.
* Manage project plans, deadlines, and report regularly to senior management.
* Prepare scope of works, budgets, and review costs to meet targets.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders on reports regarding budgets and progress.
* Develop quality assurance processes and guidelines for regional construction teams.
* Communicate with construction managers on-site regarding responsibilities.
* Develop tender documents, manage tender processes, review proposals, and award contracts.
* Exhibit strong presentation and communication skills.
What you'll need
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Building Services, Sustainability, Construction, or Engineering. Master’s degree is desirable.
* Proactive, independent judgment, and decision-making skills.
* Ability to read, check, and develop construction drawings.
* Quick learner with adaptability.
* Experience with contracts management or site work is desirable.
* Stakeholder management skills, including with senior management and external partners.
* Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail.
* Effective communication skills.
* Team player and independent worker.
* German language skills are advantageous but not essential.
* Valid UK driving license is essential.
