Leader Education are looking for a Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a school in Leeds supporting children with a wide range of learning needs. These roles are temporary positions, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidates following a successful placement. Within this role, you will be working with pupils who have needs ranging from Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Complex and Multiple Learning Needs (CMLN), through to Asperger’s and Autism. Many students also have additional needs, including physical and medical needs, speech and language difficulties, and visual, hearing, or sensory impairments. You will provide support on a one-to-one basis and within small groups, helping pupils to access learning, develop independence, and build confidence in a safe and supportive environment. Your responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of each child, so adaptability, patience, and a nurturing approach are essential. Role Requirements Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is desirable but not essential. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs and a willingness to learn are key for this role. Candidates from backgrounds such as Care, Health and Social Care, Youth Work, Psychology, Sports, Creative Arts, or similar fields are encouraged to apply. You should be empathetic, resilient, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children with SEND.
