Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated midwife who has a passion for woman‑centred care and who can manage flow through the maternity unit on a daily basis, ensuring high standards of midwifery care, reducing length of stay, and responding to individualised needs to increase client satisfaction.
Main Duties
* Proactively review unit capacity and support midwives in efficient discharge of women from the unit, especially the postnatal ward, to avoid bed blockages.
* Work closely with midwives, ward managers, coordinators, and matrons to achieve successful flow through the unit.
* Support IOL flow between the antenatal ward and delivery suite, and coordinate timely transfer of women from the delivery suite to the postnatal ward or other areas.
* Lead daily huddle meetings and surge calls when necessary, providing up‑to‑date information on activity and staffing and escalating concerns to the senior midwifery team as required.
* Provide leadership to midwifery and non‑midwifery staff, ensuring effective management of daily activity and throughput within the maternity unit.

Person Specification
Essential
* Education and qualifications: Registered Midwife, educated to degree level, practice supervisor/assessor, relevant post‑registration experience.
* Knowledge and experience:
o Post‑registration experience.
o Experience in a senior band 6 midwife role.
o Practice development or management of projects or initiatives.
o People‑management experience improving the patient experience.
o Mentoring experience and decision‑making ability.
o Change‑management / implementation of practice change.
o Experience delivering and coordinating projects in complex environments.
* Skills:
o Work across professional boundaries.
o Motivate & develop multi‑professional teams.
o Conflict resolution skills.
o Interpret national policy.
