Macklin Care Homes currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Assistant to join our award-winning team on a full-time permanent basis (37.5 hours).
The successful candidate will be based in Our Lady's Care Home (Belfast) with expected travel (occasionally) to other Care Homes within the Macklin Group. This role is 100% operational, and the successful candidate will be required to have an extremely hands-on approach from the outset.
Please note the salary advertised will be subject to skillset/experience in one or more of the following disciplines:-
1. Electrics 2. Plumbing 3. Joinery
About The Role
Key Responsibilities:
* Report to the Line Manager at the start of each shift to review prioritised repairs and ongoing general maintenance.
* Maintaining an environment to the highest standard is required, including repairing furniture, painting, hanging pictures, etc.
* Inspect all hard surfaces on the front and back of the building and sweep up debris, ensuring main entrances are free of leaves, etc.
* Maintain bins and bin compounds.
* Carry out scheduled weekly, monthly & quarterly Compliance checks.
* Carry out Reactive Maintenance in a timely & safe manner, prioritising tasks to ensure a safe environment for residents & staff.
* Ensure all equipment is used correctly and safely, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Be aware of our limitations and be aware of equipment under guarantee or service contract that must be serviced/repaired by a contractor.
* Maintain hedges, gardens, flower beds, ashtray bins, and general upkeep of the car park.
* Carry out all tasks in compliance with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
* Maintain training updates in Health & Safety and specialist Electrical Management, ensuring regular updates.
* Continue the company’s policy of being polite to all personnel you meet in your work.

Desired Criteria
* General knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
* Previous experience of undertaking PAT testing.
* Electrician/Plumbing certificate.
* Experience of medical equipment repairs and maintenance.
Required Criteria
* Full driving licence and access to own car for travelling as required.
* Must have a good command of written and spoken English.
* Maintenance experience in a similar role with hands-on experience.
* Ability to work set hours, flexible to meet the needs of the organisation.
* Be eligible to work and live in the UK.
