Main duties of the job

What will you be doing?

* Providing specialist assessment, treatment, and management for adults with voice, communication and swallowing disorders, with a focus on ENT.
* Working autonomously as a dysphagia practitioner and contributing to multidisciplinary care in both hospital and outpatient settings.
* Engaging in clinical supervision, pathway development, and quality improvement initiatives within the service.

Your work will be split across two sites - Grimsby Hospital and Scunthorpe General Hospital, therefore access to transport is essential as you'll need to travel between sites with equipment.

Person Specification


Education & Qualifications

* Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
* HCPC Registered
* Registered member of RCSLT
* Wide range of CPD activities, esp. related to specialist area
* Postgraduate qualification or training in Dysphagia
* Clinical Supervisor training


Experience & Abilities

* Minimum two years post graduate experience with adult caseload
* Experience as an autonomous dysphagia therapist
* Able to manage own caseload/s
* Experience of teaching other staff
* Experience of working in the specialist area
* Experience of working in acute/ community setting with a multi agency team
* Experience of several specialist areas of work
* Experience of managing staff and other resources
* Experience of presentations to a range of audiences
* Clinical education of students, assistants or other staff
* Involvement in research
* Use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems


Personal Qualities

* Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area
