Teaching Assistant - Secondary Alternative Provision Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire (S41) Pay: £90 - £105 per day Hours: Full-time | Mon-Thurs 8:30am-4:20pm | Fri 8:30am-3:50pm | Term-time only Start Date: ASAP Contract: Long-term to permanent Note: Due to the role and location, a driving licence and access to a vehicle is highly desirable. Role We're working with a 'Good' Ofsted-rated Alternative Provision in Chesterfield, supporting students aged 11-16 who have been excluded from or are unable to access mainstream education. With small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and a therapeutic approach, this provision focuses on re-engaging students, building resilience, and encouraging personal development. What You'll Be Doing Providing structured 1:1 and small group support, both academically and emotionally Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation through trauma-informed strategies Building trust and strong relationships to promote engagement and personal growth Supporting reintegration pathways for students moving back into mainstream education Collaborating with teachers, SEN teams, and therapists to deliver tailored learning plans Monitoring progress and contributing to regular reviews and feedback sessions What We're Looking For Experience working with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs A calm, patient, and resilient approach to high-need environments Strong communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) Why This Role?
