Job Title: Principal Electrical Design Engineer Location: Bristol Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 Employment Type: Permanent Working Arrangements: Hybrid Working We're recruiting a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical system design for advanced machinery and automation projects. This is a senior role with responsibility for design leadership, architecture, safety compliance, and mentoring a small team. Key Responsibilities
* Lead the electrical design of complex machinery and automated systems.
* Own system architecture, design decisions, and technical direction.
* Run design reviews and ensure high engineering standards.
* Ensure designs meet required safety standards, such as ISO 12100, ISO 13849, EN 60204, BS EN 61010)
* Provide technical mentoring and support to junior and mid‑level engineers.
* Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems teams.
* mprove design processes, documentation, and best practice.
Skills & Experience
* Strong background in electrical design for machinery or automation.
* Proven experience designing to ISO 12100, ISO 13849, EN 60204, BS EN 61010.
* Ability to lead architecture, design reviews, and technical decision‑making.
* Experience mentoring or guiding engineers.
* Proficient with electrical CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
* Strong understanding of functional safety and machinery safety requirements.
* Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
