Background
Children in Crossfire is a registered charity in Ireland that facilitates International Development and Global Citizenship Education programme activities.
Our vision is ‘a compassionate world where all children can reach their potential, through education’. We work in partnership with local organisations in Tanzania and Ethiopia to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged young children, with the particular focus on Early Childhood Development and Early Childhood Education. By improving childhood care, we are changing lives and empowering young children, their families, and their communities to build a better future.
In Ireland, we work through our Educating the Heart programme1to deliver GCE in formal and informal sectors to engage communities, networks and organisations with compassion-based approaches to GCE.2We have a strategic focus on developing and supporting systems-based approaches to embedding GCE, particularly through Whole School Approaches in the education sector.
Context of the role
The GCE Programme Coordinator role will continue to advance and implement the GCE strategy, by bringing the programme of work to scale and working in close partnership with relevant key stakeholders within the GCE sector.
Note: Global Citizenship Education is often used interchangeably with the terms Development Education, Global Education, Global Learning, or Education for Sustainable Development.
Major Responsibilities:
* To coordinate the ongoing development and implementation of Children in Crossfire’s GCE programmes in the formal (education) and nonformal (community) sectors across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland;
* To oversee the implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) systems that underpin the GCE programme;
* To work closely with the wider Children in Crossfire team providing support as required.

This role is considered to present amedium rating of safeguarding risk. The role will be primarily office-based, with some contact with children/vulnerable adults but not as a regular part of the role.
