A growing automotive technology company in Oxfordshire is looking for an automotive / mechanical buyer and parts coordinator to join their team. The role will focus on managing vendor relationships and working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Your Role
This is a key role for the operational success of the business, covering technical and non-technical buying, and managing how purchased items flow through the business to the point of installation.
You need to be an enthusiastic individual with previous experience in an automotive or mechanical purchasing, buying parts role.
Responsibilities include:
* Procuring parts and consumables for vehicles and the wider business
* Managing the procurement of parts that are made to the company's own designs, principally in the UK, China, and the USA.
Key Responsibilities
* Sourcing and placement of orders for contract and non-contract items using manual requisitions and digital parts requisition systems
* Negotiation of lower pricing whenever possible.
* Maintenance of Supplier details on the procurement system and review of supplier performance.
* Responsible for monitoring supplier performance and developing improvement programmes.
* Maintenance of minimum stock levels against parts system requirements.
* Adjust parts system component parameters to achieve on-time availability and appropriate batch sizes.
* Progress and chase outstanding PO's in liaison with Production management
* Control goods inwards, and stock management
* Assist in other areas of the Company as required against reasonable requests
Requirements
* Have a proven history in working as a buyer in a small to medium enterprise.
* Knowledge of automotive parts
* Be flexible and an excellent communicator.
* Have a can-do attitude, working well on own initiative or team
Desirable Experience
* Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and data
* Familiarity with business tools such as Asana, Jira, etc.
* Familiarity with 'Partsbox' inventory control system
* Read and speak Mandarin Chinese
The salary offered, depending on experience, is £35k - £40k. The working hours are Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 4.30pm or 8.30am - 5.00pm, and free parking is available onsite.
