Oncology UGI / HPB Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist
Join us to apply for the Oncology UGI / HPB Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist role at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Upper Gastrointestinal/Hepatobiliary (UGI/HPB) Oncology Service as a Band 6 Oncology UGI/HPB Clinical Nurse Specialist to cover for Maternity Leave for 12 months. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated and committed individual to develop their knowledge and skill set and gain invaluable experience of working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. You will work alongside and have support and guidance from the Band 7 CNS Lead for the service. You will form an integral part of the wider multidisciplinary team in supporting patients and their families, diagnosed with UGI/HPB cancer throughout their cancer pathway.
Candidates will need to have previous experience of working within the field of Oncology. Applications are welcome from those who have excellent communication skills, as well as being flexible and adaptable to the needs of the service.
Secondment will be considered for internal candidates – If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
The post requires an accessible and responsive team member to work alongside the band 7 CNS to provide support for patients diagnosed with UGI/HPB cancers who have been referred to the oncology department for anti‑cancer treatments.
The CNS will be expected to provide high‑quality care to these patients and their significant others during and after their treatment and to refer on to other professionals for more specialist guidance, support, advice, and counselling.
The post holder will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team and liaise with these members accordingly to ensure that patients experience a seamless, high‑quality service.
The CNS will need the ability to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice and seek guidance where necessary, to ensure that agreed standards, objectives and targets are met.
