Managing Quantity Surveyor Water Infrastructure Projects
Due to the award of a significant long-term water infrastructure framework in Wales, a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to support the successful delivery of major clean water and wastewater projects across the region.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected contractor delivering essential infrastructure projects that will improve network efficiency, upgrade ageing water assets, and reduce environmental pollution in rivers and coastal waters.

The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will lead the commercial management of a programme of design and build water infrastructure projects delivered under NEC contracts. Working as part of an established commercial team, you will collaborate closely with Project Managers, operational teams, clients, and supply chain partners to ensure successful project delivery and commercial performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the commercial management of clean water and wastewater infrastructure projectsCarry out value engineering initiatives to maximise project profitability and efficiencyPrepare and manage cost forecasts, budgets, and financial reportingProcure and manage subcontractors and professional service providersDraft and negotiate subcontract agreements and terms of engagementManage compensation events, change control, and contract administration under NEC contractsBuild and maintain strong client relationshipsSupport the development and delivery of margin improvement plansMonitor and improve cash flow performance and work-in-progress (WIP) managementPrepare, negotiate, and agree final accountsProvide commercial support for bids, tenders, and PQQ submissions, including technical responses where requiredMentor and support junior commercial team members where appropriateRequirements
To be considered, you will ideally have:
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial disciplineExperience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor, or Commercial Lead within civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, water, or major construction projectsStrong working knowledge of NEC contractsProven experience managing project finances, subcontract procurement, and commercial riskExcellent stakeholder management and negotiation skillsA stable employment history with recognised contractors within the UK construction or infrastructure sectorsAmbition to progress into a senior commercial leadership roleWhat's on OfferOpportunity to join a leading Tier 1 contractorLong-term secured workload through a major water frameworkHybrid working arrangementClear progression route to Commercial ManagerExposure to high-profile water and wastewater infrastructure projectsCompetitive salary and benefits packageCareer development within a growing and expanding business
