Wyre Forest District Council and Bewdley Museum are seeking a proactive and reliable individual to provide a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors. The role involves supporting day‑to‑day operations of the site, including opening and closing, serving in the gift shop, setting up and dismantling events, activities and demonstrations, as well as assisting with gardening, general housekeeping and cleaning.
The successful candidate will also support the loading, unloading and movement of deliveries, exhibitions, equipment and furniture, and carry out basic maintenance and gardening duties within the Museum and Jubilee Gardens.
Key Requirements
Good general education particularly regarding literacy and numeracy.
Skills & Experience
* Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently as required. Experience working in a customer‑focused environment, dealing with the public either face‑to‑face, email or on the telephone. ICT skills in windows‑based applications. Attention to detail and accuracy skills, problem solving and decision making in a very busy environment.
* Enthusiasm for history and geography in the Wyre Forest Area.
* The ability to work in an environment that requires a substantial amount of physical fitness and mobility on a daily basis, indoors and outdoors.
* Due to the needs of the service, the role involves seasonal working hours, meaning reduced working hours during the winter months.
* An example of the working hours: between March and October up to 37 hours per week; up to 18 hours per week for November, December and February.
* The Museum will close each January, although training sessions or meetings may still take place during this period.
* Hours of work are on a rota basis, including weekends, Bank Holidays and occasional evenings.
* The hourly rate for the post is £13.88 per hour.
