Hours: Part-time (2–3 days per week) with the option to extend to full-time through a dual role across The Inclusivity Group

Located: Office-based in Plymouth, Devon, with occasional travel or remote delivery as needed.
Reporting to: Lead Teacher and CEO
Responsible for: Initially, no direct reports, with the potential to support freelance tutors and course facilitators

Main Purpose of the Role
As a British Sign Language Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive, and structured BSL training across multiple formats, supporting learner progression, and contributing to course development and innovation.
You will play a key role in managing learner journeys from enrolment through to Signature qualification—and will have the opportunity to design and deliver bespoke training courses for a range of clients. You will also collaborate across the organisation to promote inclusive practice and client engagement.
This is a part-time position (2–3 days per week) with the potential to develop into a full-time post through a dual role within The Inclusivity Group (e.g., resource creation, client engagement, internal training, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
– Deliver Signature-accredited BSL courses at Levels 1, 2, and 3.
– Facilitate short BSL taster sessions and 4-week Introduction to BSL courses.
– Design and deliver Deaf awareness and bespoke training packages tailored to different audiences.
– Support learners in preparing for assessments through structured, accessible teaching.
Curriculum and Resource Development
– Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and inclusive learning resources.
– Contribute to the development of new courses in line with client demand and business direction.
– Produce filmed BSL content for online training and marketing purposes.
Learner and Course Administration
– Manage learner registration, assessment submission, and certification via the Signature portal.
– Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, progress, and achievement.
– Liaise with the internal team and learners to ensure smooth delivery and positive outcomes.
Collaboration and Community Engagement
– Work across The Inclusivity Group to support joined-up service delivery and client communication.
– Represent the organisation at events, community workshops, and networking opportunities.
– Promote inclusive practice and raise awareness of BSL within local businesses, education, and public services.
Skills and Experience Required
– Level 3 or 6 Certificate in British Sign Language (or equivalent)
– Level 3 Certificate in Education and Training (or equivalent)
– Experience teaching BSL to adults or young people at different levels
– Thorough understanding of the Signature assessment process
– Strong communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
– Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered teaching practice
– Confident using digital platforms and learning technologies
– Experience delivering bespoke or workplace-based training
– Familiarity with online and blended learning approaches
– Experience supporting learners with additional needs
– Interest in training development, project work, or cross-company collaboration
