Pre‑School Assistant

Leighfield Primary School

Salary: Grade 5 Pay Point 7‑8 (£25,191 – £25,590 per annum, approximate starting salary of £15,508)

Hours: 32 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 07:30 am – 18:00 pm


About the Role

Leighfield Primary School is seeking an organised, empathetic and enthusiastic Pre‑School Assistant to support the Little Roots Pre‑School team.


Key Responsibilities

* Ensure the well‑being, safety and security of the children, including locking doors, windows and gates in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
* Maintain records as directed.
* Assist in planning and implementing a multi‑cultural play curriculum to stimulate children’s interest in learning.
* Liaise with parents/carers and other staff to ensure children are welcomed and supported.


Qualifications

* Good level of literacy and numeracy.
* NVQ 3 qualification or equivalent.


Experience

* Experience of working with children under five in informal or formal settings.


Skills & Knowledge

* Knowledge of good practice in under‑fives care and education.
* Knowledge of requirements of the Children Act.
* Knowledge of Ofsted requirements.
* Understanding of Health & Safety.
* Knowledge of good security practices.
